Bethel International Oromo Congregation
The Bethel International Church Edmonton Oromo Congregation was established in 2016 by Pastor Mezgebu Tucho, an Ethiopian-born church planter from the large Oromo ethnic group. He had earlier pastored an Oromo congregation in Toronto for seven years.
Bethel International became a member of Mennonite Church Alberta in 2018. Pastor Tucho said that he had worked with Meserete Kristos churches in Ethiopia when he was affiliated with the Full Gospel Church. This led him to seek affiliation with Mennonites in Canada.
In 2019 the congregation met Sunday afternoons at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Edmonton. The membership in 2019 was 40-45, with an average attendance of 30. Befikadu Shigut served as assistant pastor.
