Our Shared Prayers
April 30
Gracious Creator,
We thank you for the gift of this good earth—
for the rhythm of the seasons,
for the steady holding of the land,
and for morning birdsong.
We are surrounded by your handiwork,
yet too often we move through it unaware.
The earth groans under the weight of our choices.
We confess to choosing convenience over compassion.
Lord, stir us from comfort.
Awaken us to the beauty worth protecting
and the voices we have ignored.
Make us bold peacemakers,
not only among people but also among all creation.
Amen.

Gracious loving Father and Mother in heaven,
You already know what we are longing for. We come to you with gratitude for your unwavering love that draws us closer to you.
We are surrounded by fear and uncertainty. Help us discern what to take in as we navigate our troubling times. Help us focus on the high ground; take hold of us to bring us out of our selfish ways so that our life may be complete in you. Fill us with Jesus’ words: “do not be anxious about what tomorrow will bring.”
We pray for us as Christians, to be united more than ever before. May our voices spread your love to offer a positive impact in our world.
As we approach Holy Week, we remember that death will not have the final word. Our hope is in the resurrection. Help us be like Mary, sister of Lazarus, whose gratitude for what Jesus had done for Lazarus expressed itself in selfless extravagant love at the feet of her Lord. Help us be always mindful of the holiness of Lord Jesus – our Lord who washes the feet of his disciples.
We pray this in your holy name, Amen

Lord, You are great. You delight in us, humble though we are.
You rejoice over us with singing. Your love flows over us and through us.
Where we are confident in our status and our privilege, we put it off
for the sake of love.
Where we think we know all the answers, we listen to others
for the sake of love.
Where we feel proud of our good deeds and look down on others, we repent
for the sake of love.
In love we breathe. In love we move. In love we have our being.
Our God, whose love changes everything
grant us power to press on to reach our goal
to open our hands so that Your love may flood to the world.
Amen.
