Denominations have become a standard feature of North American church reality, mediating between the local congregation and the global church. In this Canadian Mennonite University Portable, questions like the following will be considered:
Are denominations a necessary element of church life, with a positive role to play? Or are they a distraction and waste, weakening the larger mission of the church? What are the strengths and weaknesses of placing primary emphasis on the local congregation?
