Introducing... Joanne Moyer, PhD

Joanne is associate professor of Environmental Studies and Geography, and Director of the Environmental Studie program, at The King’s University.

She teaches courses such as Introduction to Sustainability; Human Geography; Simplicity and Consumption: Living Sustainably; The Global Village: Flourishing in an Interconnected World; and Natural Resource Management.

Her research explores the work of faith groups engaging with environmental sustainability, and asks questions about learning, action, ethics, and worldviews.

Joanne has contributed to various Mennonite environmental initiatives, through writing, presentations, and committee work.

She wrote Earth Trek: Celebrating and Sustaining God’s Creation (2004) for the Mennonite Central Committee, and has served on the Mennonite Creation Care Network Council, and Mennonite Church Canada’s Sustainability Leadership Group.

Joanne is a commuter cyclist (in almost all weather) and a community gardener.

She also enjoys exploring Edmonton’s river valley and ravines, singing in her church choir, and knitting socks.
